If you eat all your lunch...

I'll make some desert. Excellent!

Fruit? Urgh! Boring! Wait, try this, the lazy way to eat an apple, a banana, an orange and a handful of summer berries (don't forget the tray of ice cubes).

Pop 'em all into a blender and switch it on...

bingo! A chilled smoothie made with fresh ingredients and none of that boring chewing and peeling of fruit.

These are £3.50 each in Starbucks you know.

I went to see the Simpsons movie today. It's multi-layered, multi-coloured, fast paced and very very funny (and a bit moving in places). Far too good to waste on kids (of which there were plenty in the cinema but thankfully very well behaved). I especially loved all the sly digs at religion (and there were loads) and I was also over the moon to hear the cinema audience gasp with repulsion when two sexy cartoon cops kissed and disappeared into a motel room (see, we're not fully integrated yet and still have the power to piss-off folk). Roll on an American Dad/Family Guy movie.
I can't believe I just described cartoon cops as sexy.

I saw this weed last week and was amazed that it was taller than me and reminded me of someting that might grow on another planet.

I saw it again today but now it's dead and dried-up but still very tall. If weeds were designed by architects this would be the work of Zaha Hadid.

Crosby beach (north of Liverpool) yesterday morning.

This is the home of those 20 Antony Gormley statues dotted around the beach and hidden at high tide. The project is called 'Another Place' but all those figures are copies of Mr Gormley so maybe it should be called 'Another Ego'.

We spent an hour or so strolling on the sands and the dunes and then had ice cream while watching the locals jog and cycle along the coastal path (we were just killing time while Darrens Mum worked on our Sunday Roast).

We went to see Hairspray at the cinema in Wigan on Friday. It's very good and does great justice to the Broadway show. John Travolta was funny and made me forget Harvey Fierstein 10 minutes into the film. I think we were the only gays in a nearly full cinema showing the campest musical of the year on it's opening night.

Got a brain like bubblegum

Proper English Summers are back! None of those nasty Euro, sunny, airless and depressing dry conditions. Wet, warm, cloudy and windy, that's what we expect and that's what we've had so far. Hurrah!
Though it was quite hot yesterday when Edward and I took a brisk stroll along the river Lea. He was panting after an hour.

When we stopped to sit on the grass (to watch the sexy scullers) my feet were so hot they made my shoes melt into the ground.

The tide goes out soooooooo far in Southport (Lancashire). We're off there today for the weekend. I promised the folk in this pic that I'd try to find the Irish Sea and drag it back up the beach for them to cool off in.

When I get back from France, where I'm watching rugby, I'll probably start blogging again.

Coming Soon...
