Cheshire Street E1 humour

Today we went to Brick Lane for a snoop around. Loads of new skyscrapers in
the City but the Brick Lane area was still choc-a-bloc with vintage and arts
and crafts markets. We had a curry then headed back to Victoria cos we had
tickets for Silence! The Musical. This show was a parody of Silence Of The
Lambs and was in a tiny theatre above a pub. It was funny and very rude.

Billy Elliot was brilliant. I was a bit shocked at the constant effing and
blinding from the whole cast but the score and choreography was tip top. The
geordie accents were thick (do they tone it down on Broadway I wonder?) and
the miners strike stuff is handled aggressively and sympathetically. Several
songs are very moving and left a theatre full of sniffing adults. I loved
this show so much I could go again tonight.

Allan is Kens 'buddy'

Let's look at the evidence: rainbow jacket, Versace-esque flip-flops, short shorts, 'buddy' to Ken (Barbies bf and 'confirmed bachelor') and pictured here undressing for a blonde.

Majorca 1995. The year I sold a flat and bought a house. The year that saw the end of 10 years with Tom. The year before I became a secret agent and infiltrated Central Asia. The year after I nearly had a nervous breakdown becuase of a noisy neighbour and her love affair with TLC's 'Waterfalls'. The year I started smoking (I quit 5 years later). The year I went to Majorca and learned to eat little fish with their heads still on.

Artist of the week: Thomas Dozol

Berlin 1999. Went on my own. It was bitterly cold. So cold that I had to buy another coat from an army surplus shop to put over the one I took with me. These black and white pics were shot on B&W film which suited the mood and weather of the city. Stayed at Toms Hotel. Toms bar was round the corner (ever seen a man have a beer enema on a pool table? No? this is the place to go then). Went to SO36, which, if you're a Throbbing Gristle or Killing Joke fan, was a bit of a pilgrimage. The reason there are not many pictures is beacuse it was so cold and I couldn't be arsed to take off my gloves and get my camera out. All pics here.

We're off to London for a whirlwind visit this weekend. For my birthday in December last year Darren got me a weekend in our capital city and front row tickets for Billy Elliot. Marvelous, he knows me so well. Billy Elliot on Saturday night, Brick Lane on Sunday for shopping and a curry then we have tickets for an off-West End musical based on Silence Of The Lambs. May even squeeze in a quickie to Duckie after the theatre. The pic above is a beautiful entrance to a station on the Berlin underground (slightly related to this post in that we will probably be using the underground in London).

Dave watching dogs at Es Trenc

On this chilly day here's a picture to warm you up. Me on Es Trenc beach on Majorca in 1995 watching two dogs playfight. When Darren and I visited this beach last year there were now permanent cafe's on the beach where the sand meets the dunes in this pic.

If there's one thing I love it's a ride on a ferris wheel at dusk. It's my one weakness (TM Julia Sawalha).
